Ansyme catalyzes connections between cellular neuroscience and systemic medicine, with a focus on the autonomic nervous system.

The autonomic nervous system touches nearly every organ in the body. Mounting evidence indicates that it plays a significant role in chronic illnesses and health conditions that affect millions worldwide.

Current medical practice primarily relies on immunological and cardiovascular interventions, many of which aren’t effective. Research funding goes to neuroscience that’s focused on memory, emotion, and cognition, with little effort toward the autonomic nervous system.

There’s a gap between what’s possible and what’s being done.

Ansyme is bridging that gap.

We’re building a community of frontier scientists, physicians, and patients to bring attention to the autonomic nervous system and its impact on medical conditions. Through regular communication, our work promotes new ideas and collaborations. We keep patient outcomes at the forefront of research that might otherwise be considered impractical or inapplicable.

The science behind what we do

Autonomic neural control circuits have been identified for a handful of the 200+ symptoms that characterize “Long X” syndromes. Our newsletter articles explore these circuits and other neurological mechanisms, as well as their potential applications to medicine. In the long run, this research could apply to numerous conditions, such as chronic Lyme, pain, migraine, irritable bowel, itch, and even cancer.

Ansyme is a patient-led, volunteer-based 501(c)3 U.S. nonprofit organization (EIN: 39-4247219).
